Happy Holidays!

I'm back and excited about the upcoming holidays. I'm also looking forward to 2010, which should be filled with fun and dance! I proclaimed 2009 my year of the props and I was successful in dancing with finger cymbals, an assaya (cane) and a veil throughout my 2009 performances. I hope to continue my prop work in 2010, because a dancer's work is never done. However, I proclaim 2010 to be the year of the troupe! In the fall of this year I started a student troupe for my advanced and intermediate students. It has been more fulfilling than I ever thought it could be. The troupe is called the Nightingales and I hope they will have many opportunities to perform throughout 2010.

The Nightingales will be saying goodbye to 2009 with a bang as we perform together for the very first time. Please come out to support us!

New Winter Class Schedule

Start your new year off right with some belly dance classes that will ward off the winter blues and help you loose those extra holiday pounds. Learn traditional Middle Eastern dance movements that have been passed down for generations in this entry-level class. Beginning belly dance is about learning how to connect with your body and spirit. Suitable for all shapes, sizes and activity levels, but you will get a work out! This class will focus on improving flexibility, conditioning the body in order to do the movements properly, and building stamina. You will learn basic belly dance techniques that focus on the core aspects of the dance.

Student Troupe: The Nightingales

Fee: $12 per class (or $40 for a 4-week pass)

There is still space available in my student belly dance troupe, called the Nightingales. We will be learning a fun Egyptian choreography. The student troupe only requires that you have completed one session of beginner belly dance with me. I am hoping that there may be community performance opportunities. There are no auditions. Please send me an e-mail if you are interested.

Hire a belly dancer for your holiday event

Planning a holiday party? Why not spice it up with a professional belly dance performer! I am now booking performances for the holiday season. Reserve your date before things get too hectic. You'll also want to book now because my rates are going up as of January 1, 2010. Even if your event is after the new year, you can still book at the current rate. Don't say I didn't warn you!

I currently offer the following packages for private events:

  • Belly Dance Party Show A (belly gram): $125 (a ten-minute dance; one set)
  • Belly Dance Party Show B (professional showcase): $150 (two ten-minute dances; two sets) 
  • Shimmy Party Mini-workshop: $125 (no costume)
  • Shimmy Party Workshop with one performance: $175 (with costume)
