Andalee's Belly Dance Newsletter
Andalee's Premier Student Hafla!
Yay, we did it! Andalee hosted her very first student hafla on May 1, 2010 and it was such a lovely evening. All of the performers, students and professionals alike, were fantastic and the audience was so supportive. I want to especially thank my student troupe, the Nightingales, for all of their hard work preparing for the event.
At the end of the night we raised $100 for the Triangle Belly Dance Scholarship Fund, which helps students in financial need pay for belly dance classes and workshops. To apply for the scholarship, visit http://andaleedance.com/Triangle-Belly-Dance-Scholarship-Fund.pdf.
Summer Belly Dance Classes
Summer is always a great time to indulge in a favorite activity. Maybe this summer it will be belly dancing! Andalee is offering two week-night classes this summer that will focus on basic technique, fun shimmy drills, and maybe a little chillaxing!
Ninth Street Dance
1920 1/2 Perry St., Durham, NC 27705
Learn traditional Middle Eastern dance movements that have been passed down for generations in this entry-level class. Beginning belly dance is about learning how to connect with your body and spirit. Suitable for all shapes, sizes and activity levels, but you will get a work out! This class will focus on improving flexibility, conditioning the body in order to do the movements properly, and building stamina. You will learn basic belly dance techniques that focus on the core aspects of the dance. Wear comfortable clothes. Pants or shorts are preferred as we may stretch on the floor. Bring water. Dance shoes and hip scarves are optional. Signing up for a whole session and attending classes consecutively is strongly encouraged as each class will build upon the previous classes. New students may try one class per session on a complimentary basis. If you decide to enroll, this class will be counted as your first class; payment will be due by the beginning of your second class. For more information or to register visit Ninthstreetdance.com.
