The Dream Camp Experience!

I can’t believe it has been about a month since I returned from Aziza’s Dream Camp. Dream Camp is a week-long belly dance intensive situated in the beautiful countryside in Quebec, Canada. This year, Aziza brought in Bozenka, making this the year to do it. Aziza and Bozenka are two of my favorite contemporary belly dancers. It was a dream come true! I met Karim Nagi!

Last weekend, I got to meet a belly dance instructor and drumming maestro, Karim Nagi. Karim Nagi is an Egyptian musician, composer, music arranger and DJ (and he even has his own Wikipedia page!). I had heard that he was a wonderful instructor from other dancers who have studied with him, and I knew I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to study with him. Hey y’all. I didn’t manage to get a newsletter out because I have been so busy. I got a new day job and I start on Monday! Woo hoo! I am very excited about it, but that means a lot of changes coming my way. As a result, I have put classes on hold. Drum roll please…

Whew, what a weekend it has been! I just finished hosting my first beading workshop and my second hafla (belly dance recital). It was all an awesome experience! And the best news is that the hafla raised $239 for the Triangle Belly Dance Scholarship Fund. Woo hoo!  The Scholarship provides funds for those belly dancers facing economic hardship.  To find out more about the fund, click here.
